On June 24, 2008 we interviewed Congressman Dan Burton in Washington D.C. Congressman Burton is a member of the United States House of Representatives for Indiana's 5th Congressional District. He is currently serving his fourteenth term in Congress, his first term beginning back in January of 1983. Congressman Burton is very passionate and outspoken about the role he feels the mercury based preservative thimerosal has played in the Autism Epidemic. His Grandson regressed into Autism shortly after receiving multiple thimerosal containing vaccines in one day. During his years as the Chairman of the Government Oversight and Reform Committee, Congressman Burton spent several years bringing in experts from all over the world to speak about the toxicity of mercury and specifically if the mercury based preservative thimerosal used in children's vaccines was playing a major role in the Autism Epidemic. In October of 2000, Congressman Burton wrote a letter to the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), asking for all vaccines containing the preservative thimerosal to be recalled immediately since mercury is known to be a neurotoxin and the exposures these children were getting were far in excess of the federal guidelines. Congressman Burton also played a significant role in removing the "Lilly Rider" from the very large Homeland Security Bill of 2002. At the last minute "someone" slipped a provision into this Bill that would have protected the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly from being sued by anyone who was damaged from the mercury preservative thimerosal used in vaccines. Eli Lilly invented thimerosal back in the late 1920's and to this day has never been put through clinical trials. Eli Lilly and everyone else would of course deny having anything to do with this clear act of deception. It was eventually removed from the Bill. As you will hear in the video, Congressman Burton is not very popular with the pharmaceutical companies who manufacture vaccines and use thimerosal. It is ironic that Congressman Burton was born in Indianapolis, the hometown to Eli Lilly. Congressman Burton continues to work toward the removal of thimerosal from vaccines, as well as the removal of mercury from other sources such as amalgam (silver) fillings, fluorescent light bulbs, etc. It was great to talk to someone who is as passionate as we are about removing this neurotoxin from the many senseless products and operations it is still being used in. |
